One of the central tasks of the International Salzburg Association is the promotion of the traditional form of patronage. The activities of the ISA are closely linked to Salzburg’s cultural status and provide support for projects and initiatives of benefit to the reputation of the region.
The association supports projects requiring backing beyond the resources available from public sector coffers, but which are nevertheless of particular interest to Salzburg. There is close cooperation with the management of the Salzburg Festival and the Mozarteum Trust.
The ‘Wolfgang Schüssel Prize’ was inaugurated in 2007 and is awarded to an outstanding person, whose activities have been closely connected to Salzburg and of great benefit to the region.
